Created by Cinemagic International Film and Television Festival

April 22, 2018

The Ulster Chess Union lent wooden chess sets, boards and clocks to Cinemagic, the international film and television festival for young people. Not only did the wooden sets look beautiful in Belfast City Hall, but the short 7 minute film also featured one of our chess child stars from Ballynafeigh Chess Club, Alanna Breen, (now aged 10), who was the semi-finalist in the movie. Also, watch out for two cameo appearances by UCU President Damien Cunningham.

Main cast: James Stockdale as Sam, Frank Cannon as Nick, Rachel Murray as Sharron, Anna Murphy as Alex and Greg McParland as Robert. Two Pawns is directed by Tanith MacLynn-Hill and John Edgar. First assistant director: Rowanna Swain. Written by Laoise Holohan and Conor Wright. Edited by Evan Jones and Cait Bird. Camera: William McIlroy and Josh Lynas. Sound: James Beckett and Krizzah Policarpio.
